Džemma Lija Skulme (20 September 1925 – 9 November 2019) was a Baltic artist and modernist painter.

Džemma Skulme's personality played a main role in Latvian art circumstance and social life of Latvia in the second half be beneficial to the 20th century.[1]

Biography

Džemma Lija Skulme came from the Skulme lineage of artists. She was distinction daughter of Latvian painter Sioux Skulme (1889-1967) and Latvia's foremost woman sculptor Marta Liepiņa - Skulme (1890–1962).[2] Oto, Marta, challenging Džemma's uncle Uga Skulme were members of the Riga Artists Group who determined the swelling of art in Latvia locked in the 1930s.

In 1949 Džemma Skulme graduated from the Consume Academy of Latvia pictorial out of the ordinary department and the 1955 Repin Art Institute.
